How Do You Spend Social Currency?

Here’s how I know that was the right decision and things are really working for me.
I received a DM from a social media influencer that I’d seen online, but didn’t know.
This influencer reached out to me because someone who knew her personally had been following my content and felt that I would be an ideal guest for her friend’s podcast.
The Influencer reached out to me and we jumped on a Zoom call to talk about the podcast. In the course of the conversation, she asked me about what I do, and when I told her she said, “I need to hire you.”
That is the power of being talked about in rooms that you’re not in. The power of “social currency” and how we use it to operate in the “online economy.
Growing a following online, going viral (which I haven’t…yet), and even achieving “influencer” status isn’t the goal…it’s the leverage that comes from it.

How to Apply: Use emotional triggers like vulnerability, excitement, or empathy to help your audience feel something and connect with your message.
3. Relatability
Why It Matters: People connect with stories that reflect their own experiences or aspirations. If your audience can see themselves in your story, they are more likely to trust and engage with you.
How to Apply: Highlight challenges, fears, or desires your audience shares. Use storytelling to show them how you’ve overcome similar obstacles.
4. Clear Message
Why It Matters: A powerful story must have a clear and focused message. The more direct and aligned your message is with your audience’s needs, the more likely they’ll take action.
How to Apply: Define the main point of your story and ensure it's communicated in a way that aligns with your brand values and the outcomes your audience seeks.
5. Consistency
Why It Matters: Your storytelling should align with your brand identity across all platforms. Consistency builds trust and ensures your audience knows what to expect from you.
How to Apply: Stick to a consistent narrative theme, tone, and message throughout your marketing efforts to reinforce your brand’s core values.
6. Call to Action (CTA)
Why It Matters: Every story should have a purpose, and a strong call to action guides your audience toward the next step. Whether it’s subscribing, purchasing, or engaging, your CTA should be clear.
How to Apply: At the end of your story, provide a clear and actionable step for your audience to take that aligns with the message of your story (e.g., sign up, share, or purchase).
7. Resolution and Transformation
Why It Matters: People are drawn to stories with a satisfying conclusion. Your audience wants to see how the protagonist (you or your clients) overcomes a challenge and what transformation took place as a result.
How to Apply: Highlight the before-and-after journey in your story to showcase tangible outcomes. Use this to inspire your audience to believe that they, too, can experience the same transformation.
